It usually works, but exchanges often send late, in parts, or with a fee taken off. If less arrives than quoted the order waits and tells you how much is missing. Paying from a wallet you control is safer.
If the router can't fill, it returns your payment to the refund address. If SOL lands and the launch transaction fails, it is retried, and the SOL stays in your dev wallet where your claim key can withdraw it.
